Lip Sync Battle 2016 a Big Success

“Oh what a night!” That pretty much sums up Thursday evening at the Marlboro Civic Center after Lip Sync Battle 2016.  The sold out audience was privy to some remarkable performances by members of the community as they frolicked on stage.  The fundraiser, presented by the Friends of the Civic Center, raised nearly $7,000 to be used for programming and improvements to the 100-year old theater.

Tonya Brown of WPDE served as Mistress of Ceremonies along with Glen Wagner, Carla Liles, and Mikeya Murphy as judges and Vivian Lee as auditor for the event.  At the end of the competition the Mo’ Money Award went to the “City Girls” group (Heather Hair, Rebekah Hayes, Lori Blake, Holly Swann, and Heath Harpe). They raised the most money at $1 per vote totaling $1749.  The Judges’ Award for Best Performance was presented to the “Back Krackas” – Palmetto Wellness and Injury Center (Dr. Lee Westmoreland, Ginger Hamer, Christy Helms, and Raven Ziebell).

Plans are underway for the Lip Sync Battle 2017 to be held in the fall.  We hope that gives you plenty of time to “get your act together”.
