Marlboro Civic Center is gearing up for a full line-up of spring concerts, recitals, graduation, and pageants. Come join us Thursday evening for the School of Discovery Band’s concert and then on Sunday afternoon for Alpha Phi Alpha’s “Beautillion”. The band concert will begin at 6PM Thursday and the “Beautillion” will be held at 4PM Sunday. Marlboro Civic Center continues to update its look just in time to celebrate the 100th birthday of the building this year. The lobby was patched, painted and crown molding added earlier and now we are having new carpet installed! This is very exciting for us and the theater will be an even more beautiful venue for the performing arts in our county. Excuse our mess while we update our look!
The School of Discovery Players will present an original play “How to Succeed in High School Without Really Trying” written by Jonathan Rand at the Marlboro Civic Center in Bennettsville on Tuesday evening. The play will begin at 6 pm with doors opening at 5:15 pm. Admission is free and seats will be “first come, first served”. Come tomorrow evening and see the talents of our local youth as they take the stage!
Marlboro Civic Center is having our second Card Party on Stage Thursday evening, March 30, 2017. Doors open at 6:30 pm and card play will be from 7:00 until 9:00 pm. The cost is $10 per person and will include refreshments and loads of fun. Prizes will be awarded to game winners at the conclusion of play. Also, we will have two raffle items available. Janice Rozier has donated a beautiful matted painting of a pineapple and Latreta Kennerly is donating a certificate for one of her famous homemade cakes. Columbia City Ballet will present “Beauty and the Beast” at the Marlboro Civic Center on Tuesday, March 21, at 7 pm. The audience will not only see professional dancers from across the globe but also several local dancers. Those dancers will include: front row (left to right)- Vedah Rose Dial; back row (left to right-Aubree Oxendine, Larah Springs, and Chloe English. Tickets are still available. Adult tickets are $25 and tickets for children are $20. Ticket sales have been “brisk” this morning so we encourage you to make your ticket purchase early. The box office will be open from 10 am until 4 pm Monday through Thursday. The performance will be Tuesday, March 21 at 7 pm at Marlboro Civic Center.
